International Workshop on Biological Crises Management

The Centre of Advanced Studies of the Faculty of Military Health Sciences, University of Defence, Hradec Kralove, will arrange the International Workshop on Biological Crises Management, to be held on September 29-30, 2008 in Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic.

This workshop is intended to bring together those who work in crisis management, risk assessment area, medical countermeasures and those who make the systems more usable and effective. The core objective is to have participants talk about research, development and operational issues. The workshop will be a forum to describe the pros and cons of current crises management concepts, which should help guide future steps in creation of fully functional biological defence system architecture. The workshop should identify problems to which there are as yet no solutions, but where solutions seem possible. The workshop will cover following specific topics (but are not restricted to):

  • Classical, emerging and re-emerging infections and biological hazards
  • Characteristics of biological crises
  • Biological crises scenarios
  • Risk assessment
  • Crisis management
  • Medical countermeasures

All submitted contributions should be related to biological merit of historical, recent or future crises.
