The Prague Agenda 2015

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, the Institute of International Relations Prague, Parliamentarians for Nuclear Non-proliferation and Disarmament (PNND) and other partners invite you to the 5th annual international conference "The Prague Agenda 2015".

The 5th Prague Agenda Conference will explore nuclear deterrence, framing of nuclear disarmament debates, following up on the NPT and emerging nuclear powers. The conference will be divided into an academic conference that will be held on the first day (“Nuclear Deterrence: Enduring Concepts and Current Debates”), and a political conference that will be held on the second day (“NPT Review Conference 2015: Lessons and Future Prospects” and “Emerging Nuclear Powers”). These parts will take place on 14-15 October in the Czernin Palace of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic (Loretánské náměstí 5). Among the distinguished speakers will be:

  • Jacek Bylica, Principal Adviser and Special Envoy for Non-proliferation and Disarmament, European External Action Service
  • Mark Fitzpatrick, Director, Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Programme, the International Institute for Strategic Studies, London
  • Matthew Kroenig, Associate Professor, Georgetown University, Washington D.C.
  • Patrick Morgan, Professor Emeritus, University of California, Irvine
  • Harald Müller, Executive Director, Head of Research Department, Peace Research Institute Frankfurt
  • Adam M. Scheinman, Special Representative of the President of the United States of America for Nuclear Nonproliferation
  • Kim Won-soo, Under Secretary-General and Acting High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, United Nations

This year the 2015 Assembly of the international network of Parliamentarians for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament (PNND) will follow with a parliamentary conference on eliminating the risks of nuclear weapons held on 15-16 October in the Czernin Palace of the MFA and the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic (Valdštejnské náměstí 17/4, Prague 1). Among the distinguished speakers will be:

  • František Janouch, Nuclear physicist, Chair of the Charter 77 Foundation
  • Marek Jukl, President, Czech Red Cross
  • Marit Nybakk MP, PNND Co-President, Vice-President of the Norwegian Parliament
  • Kingston Reif, Director for Disarmament and Threat Reduction Policy, Arms Control Association
  • Johannes Raseriti Tau MP, Chair IPU Committee on International Peace and Security
  • Ward Wilson, Author of ‘The Five Myths of Nuclear Weapons’
