Dóra SZIJJ
Born in 1989. My name is Dóra Szijj and I am studying security and defence policy at the Miklós Zrínyi National Defence University in Budapest. I have been analysing the roots and consequences of child soldiery for a year. My study under the title “Children in armed conflicts – A general review of child soldiery, especially in the Democratic Republic of the Congo” was prepared for the Institutional Students’ Research Competition in 2009 with the assistance of Lt Balázs Forgács PhD. The study was awarded with the 1st place and the surcharge of Mr József Bali, former State Secretary for Defence Policy at the Hungarian Defence Ministry. In 2010, I took part in the 1st International Military School Students’ Research Project Competition in the section of Economics and Management arranged in Brno. As the member of the Advanced College of Security and Defence Policy (Biztonságpolitikai Szakkollégium) since 2008, I am examining the actual affairs in Africa and I help arranging conferences about such issues as human rights breaches in Europe and in the third world, and the problems of aid politics in connection with Africa’s future. Research areas: child soldiery; post-colonial conflicts in the Sub-Saharan region; actual topics in Africa.
