Born in 1950, graduated in 1976 at the Military University of the Ground Forces in Vyškov (VVŠ PV Vyškov). After graduation, he served as the commander on tactical level. He finished postgraduate study in 1984 and started working as a lecturer for Military Academy in Brno. In 1996—2000 he acted as the Head of Department for territorial defence at Ministry of Defence. Currently he works at the Institute for Strategic Studies (University of Defence, Brno) as a researcher, specialising in the field of military art. He is publishing in military journals.
