Dissolving of the Institute for Strategic and Defence Studies
On its unscheduled session arranged on 1st July 2009 in Brno, the Academic Senate of the University of Defence discussed the proposal of the rector of the University of Defence Brigadier ret. prof. Rudolf Urban, PhD., dr.h.c. and decided, in accordance with the Article 19, Chapter 1, Letter a) of the Status of the UD and § 9 Chapter 1, Letter a) of the Act no. 111/1998 Coll., to dissolve the Institute for Strategic and Defence Studies within the structure of the UD as of 31st December 2009.
Existing competencies of the Institute, mainly in the area of career education, have been transferred to the Department of Longlife Learning, which has been newly founded within the Faculty of Economics and Management, beginning of 1st January 2010.
The Institute for Strategic Studies (2000-2008) and its successional organisation, the Institute for Strategic and Defence Studies (2008-2009), functioned as an expert guarantor, rather than a publisher of the Defence & Strategy journal. The University of Defence remains publishing the journal and the above mentioned organisational change has no effect on further publishing of the journal.
