Prague Enlargement Dialogue

The Prague Enlargement Dialogue will be held on October 22nd, in the afternoon, at the Czernin Palace of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. It will run in parallel and will be loosely connected to the Forum 2000 Conference (21-23 October 2012).

The main goal of the event is to show that “enlargement matters”. It will seek to evaluate perspectives of the enlargement process in the context of the current strategic debate on the EU future, to underline its compatibility with further integration of the EU. Another goal would be to show the enlargement policy as a policy with positive pro-growth impact through expansion of the internal market and creating new business opportunities.

The „Prague Enlargement Dialogue“ will consist of two panels:

(1) Role and place of the enlargement in the current EU strategic debate;
(2) Enlargement as a part of the EU growth agenda.

The Dialogue will be opened by His Excellency Mr. Karel Schwarzenberg, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and by Mr. Štefan Füle, European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy. Several ministers from member and candidate states, along with representatives of business community and experts will take part in the event.

The working language is English.

The event is supported by the EC/DG Enlargement, EC Representation in Prague, Institute of International Relations Prague and EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy.

You are kindly invited to indicate your interest to europeum@europeum.org by October 10, 2012.
