Doc. PhDr. Emil Aslan SOULEIMANOV, Ph.D.
Born in 1978, is associate professor of Russian and East European Studies at the Institute of International Studies, Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. He studied English, Russian, and German Studies at universities in Moscow and Prague. He holds a LLM from Saint Petersburg Polytechnical University and a Ph.D. in International Relations from Charles University. Formerly, he was a Fulbright Visiting Fellow at the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies, Harvard University. The author has published extensively on the theory and practice of security and conflict in the post-Soviet Caucasus and the adjacent areas of Russia, Turkey, and Iran. His recent work has focused almost exclusively on the political ethnography of the North Caucasus counter/insurgency with emphasis on Chechnya and Dagestan.
