Born in 1953. A graduate of the Military University of the Ground Forces (Vyskov), postgraduate studies at the Military Academy in Brno and the U.S. Army War College. In practice, he served in a number of commanding army positions, up to the position of Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Army. During his last position, he managed the transformation of the army, which contributed to meeting the requirements for the Czech Republic's accession to NATO. At the end of 2002 he retired to the reserve in the rank of army general. He currently works (among other things) as the head of the Department of Security Studies and the guarantor of the MPA - Security and Crisis Management program at the CEVRO Institute in Prague. He is a member of the Czech Euro-Atlantic Council. He deals with issues of security, crisis management, reform of the Czech Armed Forces, protection of critical state infrastructure, energy security and other related areas.
