Ing. Vladimír KARAFFA, CSc.
Born in 1950, graduated from the Military University of Ground Forces in Vyškov, postgraduate studies at Military Academy Brno, Marshall Centre in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, General Staff course at Military Academy Brno. He worked at the Operational Art Research Institute in Brno and the Defence Studies Institute in Praha-Braník, as well as in leading positions at the former section of defence planning of the MoD. For three years he worked at the NATO Joint Headquarters Centre operational command in Heidelberg, Germany, since 2003 he was a Chief of the Administration of Doctrines of the Directorate of Training and Doctrines in Vyškov. In 2007 he concluded his professional soldier career, afterwards he worked as a head of the department of strategic abilities and strategic analyses of the Defence Policy and Strategy Division of MoD. By virtues of his functions, he worked at various NATO committees and workgroups since 1999. Between 2010-2012 he held the position of a head of section - head of human resources at the MoD. Currently, he works as a head of the Centre for Security and Military Strategic Studies, University of Defence in Brno.
