Mgr. David VAČKÁŘ, Ph.D.

Born 1976. He graduated from the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague in environmental studies. Ph.D. gained in Applied and Landscape Ecology, Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague. From 2001 to 2005 he worked in the Agency for Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection of the Czech Republic in the department of international cooperation. Since 2006 he has been working at the Environment Center, Charles University in Prague, Department of Sustainable Development Indicators, since 2011 then in Global Change Research Centre AS CR, as head of the human dimension of global change research group. Collaborates in the development of strategies for the biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services and adaptation to climate change. Participates in the European research projects of the 7th Framework program (e.g. BASE: 2011–2014) dealing with adaptation to global change. He is principal investigator and project coordinator of EnviSec - Integrated assessment of the impact of global change on the environmental security of the Czech Republic, the project of the Ministry of Interior. In particular, he is focused on the integrated assessment of environmental security in terms of impacts on ecosystem services.
