Mgr. Jana KOSTROUNOVÁ

Born in 1986. She has a degree from the Faculty of Arts, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (Bachelor’s programme in Middle East Studies, follow-up Master’s programme in Cultural Anthropology of the Middle East), scholarship holder at Damascus University and Cairo University, intership at Czech embassies in Cairo and Tunis. Since 2010, she continues her doctoral studies at the Department of Political Science at Faculty of Arts, University of Hradec Králové, where she teaches Political Islam, Modern Political History of Egypt and a course of Arabic language. The topic of her thesis is the concept human rights in Islam: Koranic interpretation versus secularization in the light of current legislation in Egyptian Arab Republic and Tunisian Republic. She is a member of the Czech - Arab Society and the Czech Society of Political Sciences, an Arabist; her professional interests include Arabic language and literature, Egypt, Tunisia, Syria, Islam as a religion, political Islam, Islamic law, Islamic radicalism.
