PhDr. Michal SMETANA

Born 1983, is a PhD. candidate in International Relations at the Charles University in Prague and Goethe University Frankfurt, and a Research Fellow at the Deutsch Security Square within the Institute of Political Studies. He graduated from the Charles University with Master's Degree in Security Studies (summa cum laude). He has been teaching several master-level courses with focus on international security at the Charles University’s Department of International Relations. His main research interests include nuclear deterrence, proliferation, nuclear norms, arms control, and the NPT regime. He published several articles in peer-reviewed academic journals, most recently in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists (with O. Ditrych). His new edited book on nuclear disarmament will be published by Routledge in 2015. He has also participated on the research projects of the Institute of International Relations Prague and Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
